Speedwork #2

Well....it wasn't as much fun as Speedwork #1 but I tried to work hard and I accomplished that.

Plan:
1o min warm up
3 min hard / 4 min easy (walking if need be) - 3 repeats
10 min cool down

My last 3 min repeat was faster than the first two which isn't really the goal as ultimately you want all 3 repeast to be the same times. I guess I hit a better stride at the end as even my cool down was pretty quick for me. It was a beautiful night to run - not quite short wearning weather for me as I am not yet ready to flaut my pasty legs just yet.

I was a bit tired last night as I hit up the gym early yesterday morning and did the elliptical for 30 min and weights for another 30. You might say: "Go Me" but at this point, the only way to fit all of this stuff in (weights, crosstraining, running etc.) is to double up workouts on a couple of days. I am not pushing myself on the crosstraining/weights days like I do when I run so why not right? Plus, golf season is starting and I have to try to fit that in as well.

Tuesday night's tempo run was pretty good as well - I am getting faster though it has taken me a long time to get to this point. The tortoise won the race right?

Speedwork #1

Well, colour me surprised but I really enjoyed speedwork last night. Maybe deep down there is a 'speed demon' lurking..
We did a 10 min warmup and then 4 repeats of 2 min hard, 4 min recovery run. Cool down was supposed to be 10 min but I was further out than I thought...
Total: 50 min = 8km. For me...this is pretty good.
It was fun to run relatively fast even for short bursts. Of course, it also helped that it was a bit warm out and there was some sun so what's not to like?
Tonight is spin and core and I am making an assumption that the gym is open tomorrow morning so I will hit it up for a run and weights.
This is not a pre-emptive strike on any treats the Easter Bunny may deliver.........I swear...

Wednesday - already waiting for the weekend and more ATB

Three long work and workout days until the weekend. As great at Sunday's racing was, it was really tiring - up at 5:30, getting ready, waiting to start the race, waiting and cheering everyone on after, post race party etc. made for a long day. Saturday is usually my off day but we are doing a charity spinathon (really just an hr session in order to raise money) so I am doing that and then...hopefully as little as possible for the rest of the day. A warm bath sounds very appealing right now...

My legs feel fine - Monday's spin and core was pretty good and my 6km run last night was really good but today, my legs just feel...weary. I actually took an Advil this morning which I never do. Some of it may be due to the fact that I am just getting my full appetite back as it has been off for the last couple of weeks (not unusal for me). I am just concentrating today on eating properly and not letting it spiral too far out of whack.
