Training:
Saturday’s was as usual Satan’s cross training. Spin was a lot of climbing – i.e. high tension and staying in the saddle = burning quads and calves. Cross training was 4 min wall squats (?!), lunges, pushups, abs etc… The bane of these classes (lately) are the low pushups or chatarunga:
I suck at them and it pisses me off. Sat, I was actually able to get into the pose but held it for approx 5 seconds. Of course I kept trying and managing to tweak something in my shoulder…can you get a hernia in your shoulder cap? ‘Cause that’s what is feels like…
This pain caused some discomfort on Sunday’s 24km run…nothing major but I could still feel it. It was a sunny day and ONLY –17…like Spring after last week. :0
This week’s goals are to try to not beat the crap out of Mama Nature who is bringing more snow and brutal temps to us. We are supposed to start hills on Thursday ….and I LIKE hill training so if she wrecks it for me…fear my wrath….
Food:
I made some wicked good eats this weekend…
The hubs is still sick so I made him some pho soup a la MamaPea:
I made some changes like grating the carrot, adding lemongrass and fresh chillis to get this sickness out of the hubs.
And last night was Yakisoba:
Both were awesome….as you can see, my preferred cuisine is Thai or Japanese…I love Italian as well but Thai/Japanese are my favs.
What is your fav cuisine? Are you a pro at the low pushup?

I can't do that one too long either! Food looks yuuuummy!
Um, I can barely handle a regular pushup so no way could I do that!
The temperature felt downright balmy yesterday. :P
I've never been one for oriental cuisine... I prefer italian for sure!
I love me some chataranga but how long do you have to hold it?
Wow those eats look amazing--I love Thai!
I admire all you cross training people. I do some core and upper body exercises three times per week but that is it. The rest is running for me. I made some pasta dishes this weekend and I must say it was lovely. Didn't look as good as your's though.
i suck at the low pushups too. i tell myself that i'm a runner and don't need upper body strength ;)
I lived in Bangkok for a while and LOVE Thai food. Yum!
Those push ups look intimidating. I've just started working on my arms and use 3 and 5 pound weights. I don't think I could hold that pose for 5 milliseconds!
That pho looks so good. I am salivating right now.
Oh chataranga. I love that feeling of a low push-up position. It feels so hard and so good in my triceps.
chaturunga and I are becoming friends, very slowly, but very surely.. i love seeing myself get stronger!
I can barely do a "girl" pushup. My self defense class does "hindu" push up. Google it, it sucks! Maybe it'll suck less if I keep doing them. Good luck with the weather.
Hi, new follower here! That noodle dish looks good! I love any asian fare. As far as the pushup? Nope, can't even do a girly one. Fail for me.
