Back at ‘er

So post marathon, I have been resting, working like a fiend, playing golf and running a bit.  Now I want to run a lot. Well not a cuckoo a lot, but more.  I have my races picked up and an even racing a 10km in July.  I haven’t raced 10km ….since I actually started running so this could be interesting….

Sunday’s run was just.so.awesome.  I had to work over the weekend (Friday – midnight – 2am and Sat 11pm-2am) so my sleep was completely screwy.  It would have been easy to loll around in my jammies but instead I went out for a ~9.5km run….and felt so much better – no way would I have felt like that if I had taken the easy road.

Because Ontario is just so much fun with its weather, we went from snow/hail to tons of rain and cold temps to having a Heat Alert issued. (meaning with the humidity, temps will run over 35C…HOTZO)  That meant back to the early morning running today where it was me, the road, the neighbourhood bunny rabbits and the local paper delivery guy.    8.5km before the sun came up and still a sweaty mess?  Yes please….

Picture

(don’t mind my Mr T necklaces…I added a new Lift Your Sole necklace to my run wardrobe essentials….I pity the fool who makes fun of me…)

How do you beat the heat?  Does it bug you?

I don’t really handle heat that great (hellllllooooo Pittsburgh Marathon) so I have to be careful when I am in the danger temp zone.

I have a feeling there will be many "before the sun comes up" runs in my near future!

The heat is nasty for sure. Hard to remember that in January.

Enjoy your races! I hope to see you at some of them.

Ugh I feel your pain with the heat. I am a total heat wimp and will get out before the sun to avoid it.
Love the necklaces!

Heat totally zaps me. I think I'd rather run hills. In fact, I'm not even signed up for any races for the rest of the summer after marathon #4 and Ragnar. No hot races for me!

Sooo not a fan of the heat, but I can cope. Hello mornings, goodbye evening television.

GAhhh I hate running in jewelry! I am irritated just looking at that pic. lol

Not to fussy for the heat either...would much rather have the brunt of winter than a muggy hot and humid day! I also have to do a lot of my runs on treadmill which is inside and no matter what, that's always hot! Yuck.

The "heat" in Calgary kicked me to the curb on Sunday during the marathon. Granted, it was only +16C, but clear blue skies and almost no wind - so odd for Cowtown. After training all winter in snow and cold and more snow, my old body was not ready for sunshine, and it shows. Now I have to get used to this, to get ready for the Edmonton marathon in August...guessing it'll be a tad warmer than +16!
Good job getting back at 'er. I have another Half in 11 days, so must get myself out there soon, as well. Happy running.

I don't like the heat. I need to get acclimated though because it is here!

I have a love hate relationship with the heat! I can run in it but I sometimes get a headache after the fact. I probably need more water! Great job on the run :)

I love the heat, I even love running in the heat! I look forward to my fall marathon training because I love getting up early to run when I know it's going to be a truly hot day. It just reminds me of summer!
I am using the half marathon training plan for the 10k from Planet Running. It doesn't have a lot of tempo runs but WOW, lots of mile repeats. Just did four tonight. Fun...let's share our training for our 10ks, that will be fun!!
When is your race?

heat drives me crazy but at the same time, during my runs I enjoy sweating...so Hm, I guess I have a love/hate relationship with the blazing sun! Today, suppose to be 100+ here...YUCK!

Love your blog and can't wait to see where your running takes you, especially post-marathon!
