Marathon Training Cycle …. with TOYS

First off…no one guessed 6 pairs of shoes as what I have in rotation.    There were a few 7s…so maybe I should buy another pair…

Marathon training kicked off with a bang last week and it feels soooo goooodddd.  As I mentioned I had a disappointing run test  and the results proved it.  This is TOTALLY my fault.  I didn’t get tested over the Spring/Summer so spent lots of time running/training in the wrong zones.  I truly felt like I had taken 50 steps backwards in my running when I got the results and was devastated….but I’m over it.

Run on…and learn from your mistakes.

The good news is that my long runs (called Zone1) are so slow that they really aren’t difficult, just kind of lonely.  I am spending a lot of ME time on these runs and calling them my F*&K runs – as in: “F*&^K I am going to fast.”   “F*&^K I am still going to fast.”  But…I am sticking to the science….

This training schedule is similar to the last one but with a few additions:

  • Sunday: long run
  • Monday:  REST!!
  • Tuesday: circuit training – new; Z5 (interval) run
  • Wed: Spin+Core (90min)
  • Thurs: Tempo run
  • Friday: 10km Z1 run; circuit training with Coach C - new
  • Sat: Satan’s Spin and cross training (90min…if we are lucky..)

My friend/Coach C opened a new gym that I now training out of and it is awesome – boutique style, amazing equipment, LIMITED MEMBERSHIP and lots of fun things to work with like the Woodway Curve Treadmill:

This thing is seriously cool though because there is no motor to it it truly feels like being a hamster on a wheel.  The first time I used it I was scared to walk on it without hanging on for dear life.  This morning…I ran on it and didn’t fall off.  It is a Festivus Miracle!

The other fun toy is Jacob’s Ladder which you may have seen on the Biggest Loser:

2 minutes on it and I had some serious sexy beast breathing going on.  Didn’t fall off it either. Booyah…

My other new toy is:

Yep..I bit the bullet and got it.  Actually, the hubs cashed in a bunch of reward points for gift cards and now it is mine.  All Mine!

Is your training starting yet?  Do you have any fun new training toys?  (keep it clean people…)  :)

Have you seen Knuckle Lights? Google them now. They are my newest toy and have made me fall even more in love with night running!

Are you in Burlington Ontario? If so the Santa race is done by the same people I believe. Are you doing it? If so have fun.

I really want to try one of those ladders! They looked intense on The Biggest Loser!

Wow, a limited gym membership? That's pretty darn great, you won't have to worry about it being packed! Interesting hamster wheel contraption too. Happy training!

Happy Training! The jacob's ladder looks interesting (did see that on BL). I haven't seen the curved treadmill though. Is there a purpose for it being curved? Looks interesting.

Nice toys indeed although I run "toy free" always. Always outside and no Garmins or IPods or anything for me. I never "start training" but just continue year in and year out. I try to be ready for any race distance at any time.
