Year End Recap - 2011

Well…11 days and 2011 will be dunzo.  I tried to think up a year end recap post but this week has been a gong show (fried hard drive on my computer, serious traffic, stress etc) has left me with brain mush.  Miss Zippy…came to the rescue with her format.

Best race experience?  The New York Half Marathon was the most fun I have ever had in a race even if I had horrific shin splints from walking around NYC for 2 solid days prior to the race..

Best run? Hmmm I have had a few good ones but this one was fun as I still remember chit chatting the KMs away with my friends and doing drills later that afternoon.

Best new piece of gear? Duh…My new Garmin 610.  True Love all the way baby…

Best piece of running advice you received? Remember to relax and enjoy running.

Most inspirational runner? Too many to choose from in my real life dealings (the hubs, Coach M etc.) but I’d have to say Ed Whitlock is a huge inspiration to me especially after seeing him finish the Scotiabank Marathon in October…at age 80 running a 3:15:54 marathon.

If you could sum up your year in a couple of words, what would they be? My life like my running this year has been:  tiring, fulfilling, frustrating, joyful, sad, learning, challenging and loved.

Have an amazing holiday season peeps.  Having all of you read this little blog makes me a happy elf and I wish you nothing but the best for the rest of 2011 and 2012.  I will be back with a recap of my last race of the season The Boxing Day 10 Miler which I am pretty stoked about.

For me and the hubs to you..Happy Holidays!

An 80 year old running a 3:15 is ridiculous. Makes me feel like a slacker. Have a great 2012! Best wishes!

I love your short, concise year-end synopsis, especially the story of the 80-year old, kick-ass marathon runner. Thanks!
